Plagiarism policy

The scientific journal "Environmental and Radiation Safety" accepts for publication original materials, articles that have not been published before and have not been submitted for publication in other journals.

For all sent materials, the level of uniqueness of the author's text is determined using the appropriate software: Detector Plagiarist, Antiplagiat, Advego Plagiatus. Manuscripts of articles where plagiarism or textual borrowings without references to the original source are found are rejected by the journal editors.

Forms of plagiarism include:

  • use (verbatim citation) of any materials in any volume without indicating the source;
  • use of borrowed images, drawings, photographs, tables, graphs, diagrams or any other form of graphical representation of information without reference to the source;
  • use without written permission of materials whose authors or copyright holders prohibit the use of their materials without special agreement.

Forms of incorrect borrowing include:

  • lack of graphic highlighting (in quotation marks) of verbatim quoted text in the presence of references to the source;
  • incorrect reference to the source or incomplete composition of its bibliographic description, which prevents their identification;
  • a reference not to the first source of the borrowed text without an explicit indication of this fact (an error in determining the original source);
  • lack of references from the text to the sources listed in the reference list;
  • excessive citation (in the presence of references to sources and graphic highlighting of the quoted text), the volume of which is not justified by the genre and goals of the article.

If there are incorrect loans, all cases of such loans are considered individually.

Plagiarism before publication

The editorial board of the scientific journal "Environmental and Radiation Safety" analyzes each case of plagiarism. If plagiarism or textual borrowings are detected by the editors or reviewers at any stage before publication of the manuscript, the author(s) will be notified of the need to change the text or make a reference to the original source. If plagiarism is at least 25%, the article may be rejected.

Plagiarism check policy

Manuscripts found to be plagiarized are processed based on the amount of plagiarism present in the manuscript: if less than 25% plagiarism, the manuscript is sent to the authors for revision, and if more than 25% plagiarism, the manuscript is rejected without editorial review. Authors are encouraged to revise textual borrowings and resubmit in a new manuscript.

The percentage of plagiarism is calculated by the software and evaluated by the editorial board.

Plagiarism after publication

In the case of a proven fact of plagiarism in an article that has already been published, its author(s) are deprived of the right to be published in all subsequent issues of the journal, and the text itself is removed from the archive of the official website of the publication and from other places of public posting, for which the editors of the scientific journal "Environmental and Radiation Safety" are responsible.

Tips for avoiding plagiarism

  • Use quotation marks for words taken verbatim from the source
  • Do not change parts of the quote in the context of the sentence
  • Use separate quotation marks within a quotation
  • Use ellipsis (a space and an ellipsis) for part of an omitted quotation
  • Use brackets to add your own words
  • Limit the use of direct quotations

Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permission for reproduction of illustrations, tables, figures taken from other authors and/or sources. The permission should be placed at the bottom under each item.
